Dominique Tan is the Chief Social Innovation Officer at Unical Aviation, a woman, minority, and family-owned business employing over 700 employees within the Southern California region and beyond. Unical provides business to business airplane services and parts within the Aerospace industry. Within the company, she leads the Department of Social Innovation, which focuses on Corporate Social Responsibility, Philanthropy, and special projects through consulting, design, and incubation. Such initiatives include a socially just workforce development pipeline and pathways from recruitment to leadership positions, an annual $350k participatory corporate giving program concentrating on place-based community development, global regenerative economy work, and grassroots aviation models, as well as Diversity and Inclusion initiatives through process architecting. Dominique brings over nine years of experience working with non-profits and grassroots movements addressing immigrant rights, domestic and international community development, and racial and economic justice. Since 2015, her volunteer work focuses on donor organizing with Resource Generation, a non-profit that organizes young people with access to wealth and class privilege to redistribute their power, wealth, and land. She served as a Bay Area chapter leader, and currently serves on their National Membership Council as part of their National Campaign Team. Graduating summa cum laude from the University of San Francisco with a B.A in International Studies and Latin American Studies, Dominique is a recipient of the 2012 Father P. Schlegel Award for Diversity and Community Unity, finalist for the 2012 Dean’s Medal of Excellence, and is a 2015 graduate of Urban Habitats Boards and Commissions Leadership Institute that seeks to democratize power through boards and commissions.
