Eric Brakken has been an organizer for nearly three decades. He is currently a principal with EJB Strategies, where he works with philanthropic, labor, community and political organizations to build infrastructure and campaigns toward strategies for building community wealth and expanding democracy, with a particular focus in Florida and the South. He spent 18 years with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), serving as the Florida District Director for 32BJ SEIU and the Executive Director of the SEIU Florida State Council, during which he helped build a long-term strategic alignment called Florida for All, to leverage the collective strength of the organizations with the largest and deepest roots in communities across the state around multi-year strategies to win an authentic democracy, a fair and inclusive economy, and an accountable justice system. Eric has also worked with grassroots partners in several states to build social impact businesses that can generate independent revenue to support organizing and social change.
