Jess Lake

August 28, 2024

Cohort Year: Cohort 8 (2024-2025)

Country: Canada

Affiliation: Heart Lake Committed Capital

City / State: Victoria, BC

Jess Lake has been an entrepreneur, community organizer in the arts sector and a bureaucrat in an environmental action department. Ten years ago, following a period of rapid wealth growth, the arrival of three children and a move across the country to British Columbia, Coast Salish homelands, she left these pursuits behind in order to fully commit to her family’s philanthropy. Jess is the founder and Executive Director of The Lake Family’s All One Fund. Through thoughtful and trusting relationship-based grant making, the All One Fund is in service to a varied range of initiatives including Indigenous-led conservation, Indigenous cultural revitalization, inclusive sport and recreation, girls’ education, and diversity in STEM education. Most recently, the All One Fund team has recognized their ability to contribute to wealth re-distribution through purpose-driven investments and services such as legal and real estate-related support for non-profit organizations. These are areas of growth and learning that have led Jess to JEI.

Jess is also the founder of Heart Lake Farm, a unique agricultural centre on southern Vancouver Island, W̱SÁNEĆ Territory, offering health and education programming that incorporates horses.
