Jonathan is a democracy scholar and organizer of capital, communities, and ideas.
Jonathan leads the Black Migrant Power Fund, a community-led and trust-based philanthropic fund supporting grassroots organizations across the United States. Jonathan brings over fifteen years of senior nonprofit, philanthropic, and political experience, and has influenced the deployment of over $350 million in philanthropic capital.
Jonathan is a Harvard Kennedy School alum and has received several Harvard fellowship appointments, including at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation, the Carr-Ryan Center for Human Rights, the Center for Public Leadership, and the Rappaport Institute for Greater Boston.
Jonathan has served on seven governing boards and currently serves as board chair of Funders for LGBTQ Issues, a national network of funders and donors committed to the well-being of LGBTQ communities. Jonathan also serves as a director of the eBay Foundation and Hispanics in Philanthropy. Jonathan’s contributions to social justice movements are memorialized at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History in Washington, DC.
