Josh Nussbaum advises nonprofits, corporate campaigners, and labor unions on strategy, movement building, and advocacy, and is the founder of the Collective Capital Lab, where he is exploring ways social movements can collectively mobilize capital to make the economy more regenerative and democratic. Previously, he was the founder and CEO of The Movement Cooperative, where he helped build cooperative data and tech infrastructure that serves over 1,000 progressive organizations across the United States. He has served in leadership roles in the gun violence prevention, democracy, and LGBTQ movements in the United States, as well as numerous candidate campaigns, and advised organizing efforts in India to combat gender-based violence.
He is also a 2026-27 fellow with the British-American Project. He serves on the boards of Fair Future Lab, the Better Internet Initiative, the Mycelium Institute, and the Community Service Society of New York, and is a volunteer leader with Recovery for All and Dear Crisis. He lives in Brooklyn, NY.
