Stefanie Thomas joined Impact America Fund in 2015 with a purpose to elevate the potential of underserved communities through capital that supports better inroads to economic opportunity. She has emerged as one of a rising number of “Black Women VCs” (Fast Company) who are working at the intersection of inclusive economies, innovation, and capital accessibility. This focus has allowed her work to translate across public, private, and philanthropic initiatives with organizations that include Google, the Aspen Institute, Techstars, and the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO). Stefanie’s experience is fueled by a passion to support bootstrapped entrepreneurs, an ode to her father who overcame tremendous challenges as a small business owner despite low-income beginnings. These deeply rooted influences drove her early ambitions in business consulting for tech start-ups, a co-directorship in a university social impact fund, and a 6,000 mile road trip to work with small businesses that landed her a feature in an HLN docu-series. Before shifting gears professionally, Stefanie served as a Vice President at Citigroup, managing more than 50 institutional investor relationships and leading finance transactions totaling over $1B in assets. Stefanie received her MBA from the Ross School at the University of Michigan and her B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. She currently resides in Washington, DC.
