Tenesha Duncan is a Black feminist strategist exploring the intersections of reproductive and economic justice. She is the Founder of Orchid Capital Collective, a nonprofit impact investing firm that leverages capital and non-financial resources to support Black, Indigenous, people of color birth and reproductive justice leaders reclaiming and building legacies of care in their communities. Tenesha brings 15 years of experience in reproductive health, rights, and justice, working in direct service, organizational development, coalition building, and philanthropy.
Her journey through this movement fuels her commitment to creating sustainable and inclusive funding opportunities. To date, she has stewarded $5M in funding for justice-centered, community-rooted projects and organizations. Through Orchid, Tenesha hopes to spur increased investment toward how families are created and nurtured, how we make decisions about our families, and how our communities are structured to live in and/or raise families. She aspires to leave a legacy of truth-telling, responsive leadership, and creating pathways for healing, connection, and mindfully shifting resources.
Tenesha calls Oakland home, and when she’s not working, she indulges in pottery, gardening, meditation, cooking, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
