Alexandro Paz helps organizations connect people with the information, resources, and experiences they need to thrive.
Over his career, he has worked across nonprofit, educational, financial services, and mission-driven organizations, specializing in digital communications, web strategy, content management, and community engagement. He has managed content for organizations ranging from local community institutions to international nonprofits, helping teams improve accessibility, streamline digital experiences, and communicate more effectively with diverse audiences. His work has included supporting global content operations, developing training resources, managing large-scale websites, and building systems that improve workflows and help good people do good work.
Originally from New York State, Alexandro holds a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications and an M.A. in Communication Studies. He earned both degrees while living in the American Southwest.
Outside of work, Alexandro enjoys exploring new digital tools, watching films, and sharing food, fun, and games with the next generation in hopes of inspiring curiosity and wonder.
Community, interconnectedness and transformation are at the heart of JEI. Which speaks to you most? Why?
Transformation speaks to me most because I’ve spent much of my career helping organizations make information, resources, and opportunities more accessible. I’ve seen how even small improvements in communication, accessibility, and knowledge-sharing can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives. To me, transformation begins when more people have the opportunity to participate, contribute, and help shape their communities.
What are a few things about you that would surprise other people?
- People may be surprised to learn that I have worked many jobs throughout my life, including radio DJ, journalist, television producer, and photographer, among others.
- I am incredibly proud to have a library card from every U.S. city or town I’ve ever called home.
- Finally, I’m a first-generation U.S. American and have been fortunate to live and travel throughout Europe and the United States.
What movements for a just economy, past or present, inspire you?
- I am inspired by the public library movement and broader efforts to expand access to information and knowledge. Communities are stronger when people can learn, participate, and make informed decisions about the systems that affect their lives.
- I remain inspired by the librarians, educators, archivists, and public servants who work every day to preserve and share knowledge.
- I am equally inspired by efforts to bridge the digital divide and by the vision of the internet as a tool for expanding access to knowledge and opportunity.
Whether through public libraries, community journalism, digital archives, or open-access initiatives such as the Internet Archive, these movements reflect a belief that information should be treated as a public good rather than a privilege.
