Phillip Sanders serves as Co-President at New Rising Ventures, where he leads efforts to expand strategic partnerships, grow the funder portfolio, and increase investment capacity for early-stage, impact-focused startups. He is also launching a new fund focused on supporting founders building and scaling Media Tech, Civic Tech, and Responsible AI companies.
Phil’s experience includes previous leadership and operational roles at New Rising Ventures, such as Investment Principal, as well as advising MXV Ventures. Earlier, he was a Fellow at Kapor Capital and managed investment accounting and operations at the Kapor Center for Social Impact. He began his financial career at Rockwood Capital and Ernst & Young.
Deeply engaged in the startup and nonprofit ecosystem, Phil is the former Board Chair of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights in Oakland, where he championed community-focused innovation and social change. He continues to mentor founders and bring together thought leaders, investors, and activists to drive positive impact.
