Sage Wheeler (she/her) has been a donor activist for over 20 years. She works to move financial capital to people and organizations working primarily in, or at the intersection of, reproductive justice, agriculture, democracy, social justice and power building. Sage and her team strive to listen to the needs of people within organizations, be flexible, reduce administrative burdens, and provide patient capital over years to build capacity and financial stability. She continues to learn and expand her ability to challenge the entrenched norms of white supremacy and capitalism infrastructure often found within philanthropy. Mindful of Audre Lorde’s quote, “For the master’s tools will never dismantle the master’s house,” Sage works to unwind her own conditioning and ensure the work is as anti racist and decolonized as possible. This effort is ongoing.
In her day job, Sage is a certified Martha Beck Life Coach, Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and certified Hatha and Restorative Yoga teacher. She loves supporting individuals in their healing and recovery in individual and group settings. Her tool kit also includes being a certified Tiny Habits Coach and a graduate of BJ Fogg’s Behavior Design Boot Camp. She lives with her partner in the 29 unit cohousing community they co-founded 15 years ago and loves being outdoors, especially working for her farmer daughter on the 85 share CSA farm her daughter owns. She received her Masters in Education from Antioch University.
